Kaiten Zushi

Kaiten-zushi is a sushi restaurant where the plates with pieces of sushi are placed on a rotating conveyor belt that winds through the restaurant and moves past every table and counter seat. Customers may place special orders, but most simply pick their selections from a steady stream of fresh sushi moving along the conveyor belt.

If you order a beer or sake then you are given a colored plate to record each drink. The final bill is calculated based on the number and type of plates that pile up after the sushi is eaten. Green tea is self served as is wasabi and ginger or “gari”. Kaiten-zushi joints are cool…except for the occasional time when someone sitting up stream on the conveyer belt takes a liking to the same sushi that you’ve had your eye on!
