There are a lot of batting cages in Tokyo and the facilities are pretty amazing. They’re actually called Batting Centers and they are open late and they are always busy.
The pitcher is not just a regular, old school pitching machine with two wheels that sling a ball at you all of the sudden.
These machines have simulated pitchers that wind up and deliver a real pitch.
You can actually time the pitchers delivery and get a decent look at the ball as it whizzes in.
You can choose between different speeds.
Or face a lefty or righty depending on your preference.
You can face real life pitchers who play professional baseball in Japan.
Ikebukuro’s Batting Center will post your name on the wall for a month if you hit a homerun. I’ve hit a couple of solo shots but nothing like the guys on this list who hammered multiple dongs.
