Don Quijote ドンキーホーテ is a discount chain store and one of the most convenient stores in Japan. Most of the stores are open 24hours or at least till 5am. You won’t miss their mascot, a big blue penguin outside the store and the crazy jingle they have playing on the loud speaker.

You can find everything from shampoo, makeup, Japanese and foreign snacks, digital cameras, perfume, toaster ovens, alcohol, socks, underwear…you name it! I go there when I’m in desperate need of Ivory Soap or Downy fabric softner.
Something that’s pretty interesting about Don Quijote is the amount of new and used brand name bags and wallets, like GUCCI, LOUIS VUITTON, PRADA and CHRISTIAN DIOR sold here behind glass shelving. I often wonder if they are authentic. I’ve asked a few people and they all say they are.
Don’t be surprised if you come across a little section of the store that sells sex toys and videos. I did say they have pretty much everything didn’t I?
Check this place out, you’ll find something you need for sure!
