One detail about shopping for clothes in Japan is how much care they put into wrapping the clothes you buy and the shopping bags they give you. They carefully wrap your clothing in either a cloth bag or a plastic bag and then put it in another bag that has their name written all over it. Advertising on these bag s are just as effective as billboard or posters all around the city.
Not only do woman sport these bags after a long day of shopping, they also keep these bags for other uses as well. These bags are like a fashion statement and never do you just throw them away, you keep stacks of them at home.
You can carry your lunch, bring a change of clothing and shoes in these without using those boring and ugly white plastic bags you get at the grocery store. You will see almost every OL (office lady) on the streets of Japan carrying a bag from their favorite clothing store.
It is so extreme that I’ve seen these bags for sale on Yahoo Auction for at least 200 yen each!!
