My Favorite Place in Japan

I’m writing this as a part of the Japan Blog Matsuri's May Edition topic - "My Favorite Place in Japan," hosted by The Nihon Sun.

Recently my friends from Miami came to Japan to shoot an episode of their new TV show, "Worldwide Tribe," which will air later this year on Travel Channel. They called on me to show them a good time while they were here so I decided to take them to one of my favorite places in Japan - the Karaoke Box!

We had a short break between shots... and it didn't take long for me to convince the guys that our downtime could be spent only one way - karaoke jammin! So we made a dash for, "Big Echo," a karaoke chain with a Las Vegas hotel-like interior. A cameraman tagged along with one of the smaller, handheld cameras.

We drank a couple beers and we rocked the house for a solid hour before having to get back to work. During the jam session we forgot where we were and what we were doing - I think Yoji forgot who he was. We were caught up in the moment, we were rock stars. That's what karaoke's all about - escaping from reality. I finished the set with Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone," ... and the crowd went wild.
