I’m writing this as a part of the Japan Blog Matsuri’s May Edition topic – “My Favorite Place in Japan,” hosted by The Nihon Sun.

Recently my friends from Miami came to Japan to shoot an episode of their new TV show, “Worldwide Tribe,” which will air later this year on Travel Channel. They called on me to show them a good time while they were here so I decided to take them to one of my favorite places in Japan – the Karaoke Box!
(that’s Ami James in the shorts and black jacket and Yoji Harada in the black jacket & long pants from the TV Show Miami Ink… and yours truly in the yellow jacket)

We had a short break between shots… and it didn’t take long for me to convince the guys that our downtime could be spent only one way – karaoke jammin! So we made a dash for, “Big Echo,” a karaoke chain with a Las Vegas hotel-like interior. A cameraman tagged along with one of the smaller, handheld cameras.

We drank a couple beers and we rocked the house for a solid hour before having to get back to work. During the jam session we forgot where we were and what we were doing – I think Yoji forgot who he was. We were caught up in the moment, we were rock stars. That’s what karaoke’s all about – escaping from reality. I finished the set with Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone,” … and the crowd went wild.

I’m gonna have to remember to watch out for that episode of Worldwide Tribe!

Seems like I have heard this story before? Why didn’t world wide tribe air? Just wondering
I heard from a crew member that they had a problem with one of the investors and the show wasn’t aired.
Big Echo is ok, but my fave is Shidax, larger selection of songs and better food
Shidax does a really good job promoting their karaoke box!
