The Shooto event was held at JCB Hall at Kurakuen. This is one of the better venues that I’ve been to in Japan. It reminds me of the Thunderdome.

Good friend Kotestu Boku was fighting so we all went to support him.

Friends Ex-MMA fighter Kengo Watanabe along with Riki Fukuda and Eiji Ishikawa were there.

Boku’s opponent, Yutaka Ueda of PureBred Kyoto, came into the fight with a 6-1-1 record losing only his first match back in 2006. Boku kept him honest with his stiff jab. Ueda threw some nice punches of his own which landed and it looked as though it was going to be a battle.

The Thunderdome was packed with friends who Kotestu Boku, nicknamed the Korean Tiger, would not want to disappoint!

Boku delivered late in the first round with a devastating left hook followed by a flurry of punches from the side position leaving the referee no choice but to stop the bout.
Here’s a clip of Boku vs. Ueda.

We were also pulling for Rumina Sato in another match but things didn’t work out exactly as we had hoped. Better luck next time Sato-san!

As we’ve done after the past couple fights, and what seems to be a habit that I don’t mind very much at all, we went out afterwards for some delicious Korean food. Bulgogi was the bomb!
It’s been difficult but I’m doing my best to get over my fear of portable gas stoves.

Seafood pancake, I’m totally forgetting the name of this so please help me out here.

Once the Bulgogi was finished we ordered some udon noodles which we threw in the leftover sauce.

MMA fighter and hopefully Dream Grand Prix 2009 Champion, Yamamoto “Kid” along with traditional Japanese tattoo artist Akilla and the rest of the crew mentioned earlier – it was a good night.
