The best massage in Tokyo can be had at a little Thai massage shop in Ikebukuro called Mai Thai. If you’ve never had a Thai massage then I suggest you give it a shot because it’s an incredible experience.
Unlike normal massages, Thai massage incorporates a lot of stretching which is awesome after a long flight. Whenever I fly from overseas I always head straight to Mai Thai to get my body right. A lot of my friends who are pro fighters also go there so you know they must be doing something right.
Thai massage originated in India and is based on Ayurveda, an ancient Indian medicine, and Yoga. Like Chinese massage, they use a lot of pressure points which they believe are connected to other parts of your body.
The ladies at Mai Thai are super friendly and they take great pride in their work. So if you’re in Ikebukuro and you have some time to treat yourself like royalty then this is the place to go.
