The PROTECH ST-7 shoulder mount adapter converts Sony PMW-EX1, PMW-EX3 and HVR-Z1 cameras into shoulder-mounted cameras.
An industry standard V-Mount battery plate allows the mounting of full sized V-mount batteries. 4-Pin XLR connectors add the abilities to use with a standard AC adapter, on-board camera lights or other accessories.
With an integrated ST-1 tripod adapter plate the ST-7 can be securely attached to a standard “full-sized” tripod plate (Sony VCT-14/VCT-U14 or Panasonic SHAN-TM700). The 3x BNC connectors side panel gives the freedom to conveniently connect or remove cables.
Philip Bloom just blogged about this item and says it’s,
“the best shoulder mount I have used for my Sony EX3 by far.”
The entire write up lives here.

Will the st-7 work in conjunction with the Zacuto Zephr rod/plate combo?
Flimsy or what? Other ideas to hang a matte box with the st-7?
This one looks like a decent piece:

I don’t think the Zacuto / Protech combo would work as the Protech is meant to wedge underneath the PMW camera and the Zacuto seems to be made for full sized cameras with v-mount wedge plates (such as the Panasonic AJ-HDX900).
Is there a store that sells the ST-7 or ST-7J Cameras Support in the US?
