what? another blog?

Earlier this week I started a new blog: billydecola.com – this post will explain why I started it and hopefully will allow me to get back on track – read more to find out what I mean.

When I started my first blog tune-in-tokyo.com, a few years ago, it was intended to be a blog about Japan and everything Tokyo including tattoos, martial arts, food, nightlife, shopping, fashion, music… you get the idea. Then something happened – I decided I wanted a personal outlet and before I knew it tune-in-tokyo lost its direction. Instead of posting about topics like Halloween in Tokyo I found myself posting about random topics like the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 Protest and Traditional Rose Tattoos. Sure these are interesting topics but they just don’t have a place on the Tokyo blog.

So to sort things out I’ve decided to get back to the original plan and blog about Japanese related topics on Tune-In-Tokyo… and all of my personal blog posts will now be posted here on billydecola.com

Online retailer Amazon on Monday said its latest Kindle had become the company’s best-selling product ever.

Without giving details of the number of units sold, the company said sales of its third generation e-reader had beat sales of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

The Hindu Pushup

My buddy Laren, who made a contribution to tune-in-tokyo as a guest blogger a while back, posted a little video on his blog (sensiblebeing.com) demonstrating the proper way to do a Hindu Pushup.

For those of you who think going to the gym and throwing a ton of weight on the flat bench is a good chest workout… I challenge you to try doing some of these. If you really want to push yourself – I suggest you try the Karl Gotch Bible which incorporates this exercise along with Hindu Squats. I trust Laren will post a video demo about shortly.

You can follow Laren on facebook here or check his blog out via the link above.

Facebook Connect

I just added Facebook Connect to the blog. Look in the sidebar and you’ll see the ‘Login Button’ and right below that you’ll see the ‘Like’ box. It took me a while to figure out how to get it working right. Now you can login to the tune-in-tokyo blog and leave comments using your Facebook profile. Try it out! Don’t be shy… or you can simply register for this Blog by heading to the registration page.

* UPDATE * what a pain in the ass this plugin is! After hours of troubleshooting I realized that it’s not necessary to ‘connect’ to the site unless you want to register or leave a comment. I removed the ‘Login Button’ – so now you will only see the ‘Like’ box. If you wanna login then please do so in the comments area.

* UPDATE 2 * OK… I’m not going to throw my laptop through the window! Instead I’m simply disabling the comment and login functions of both facebook connect and twitter connect plugins. These aren’t working and I’m tired of wasting my time trying to figure out why. If you wanna leave a comment then leave a comment… but you aint doing it via your facebook or twitter account. Ugghhh!!

* UPDATE 3 * I totally removed the plugin!!
