Canon”s EOS 5D Mark II Firmware Update 1.1.0 is now online and available for download.

It took me less than 5 minutes to download & install and now I have full control over ISO, shutter speed and aperture when shooting video - a significant upgrade from the previous version which was fully automatic in video mode.

I bought the camera last week in Tokyo at Bic Camera and paid I a few hundred bucks more than I would have spent if I bought it in the USA. I don’t understand why consumer electronics are so much more expensive in Japan than they are in the USA.

Example: The SanDisk Extreme IV 16GB CF Memory Card is selling for $188 in the USA. Bic Camera is selling the exact same card for 39,300 JPY here. Talk about getting your head slapped!

I’m itching to pick up the Canon BG-E6 Battery Grip which holds 2 batteries and adds another shutter release button for easier vertical shooting. Boy do I love electronics!
